Who doens’t love twitter, really? Comments about nothing. Notes about something. 140-character press releases! Immediate answers to questions you never thought you’d ask. The possibilities are endless! Here are some newer, unexpected ways that twitter can come in handy for you…
THE TWITTER FEED
Twitter keeps my site updated even when I don’t . In light of yesterday’s post, “Drawing Traffic to Your Website“, having a visible twitter feed on your homepage can make a world of difference when it comes to other’s perception of your site. Your page might not have any new information, but if you’re tweeting 2-6 times a day, visitors will see that you are active and communicative.
I thought I’d link to examples from some of our twitter followers:
- @keitheaston – www.woosh.tv
- @andybill58 - www.andrewwholland.com
- @joelrakes - www.joelrakes.com
- @joyike - www.joyike.com (that’s me)
THE TWITTER SEARCH
This is my favorite new “tool” though its probably existed for a while. Have you ever tried Twitter’s Advance Search options? I’ve begun to use this for finding gigs. My search term is usually “call for artists”. I look for events that are in need of live music and then also plug in how many miles out I’m willing to go. You’ll be surprised at what you find. Other suggested search terms include:
- “now booking”
- “art festival”
- “looking for musicians”
- “Singer songwriters wanted”
- “musicians needed”
