THE ARTIST: Last Hour Battle (Philadelphia, PA)
THE QUESTION: We’re always looking for the best way to manage all of our information about gigs, fans, etc… Any ideas of a great open source customer management program that integrates w/ social media and email?
THE ANSWER: Oh yes, one of the many complications of being in a band. How do you keep everyone organized when some bandmates are more “aware” than others. Well truthfully, the first step is to make sure you’re all on the same page about this. The last thing you want is to have one bandmate who only checks his email once a week even when he knows information is coming in. So before you just into using a service, just make sure your peers are doing the simple job of being connect. And now, here are a few suggestions…
ArtistData
Two words: USE IT! We can’t say enough good stuff about ArtistData. It’s a free service that allows you to upload your show information into a calender, then integrate that calendar within your website. You can find out more about that here. Even more, AD allows you to enter in specific details for each show that are only for your eyes and the eyes of your bandmates. You can include details like
- where are we sleeping after the show?
- what percentage of the door split do we get?
- do we have any friends that we want to put on the guestlist?
- what is our opinion of the show and the venue now that its over?

W e really love ArtistData and we find one more reason to love them each time we write a post about them.
Be sure to check back on Monday for more resources to keep your band organized.
