This is a continuation of last week’s post, “How Do I Keep My Band Organized? PART 1“. Having a hard time keeping your band on the same page? Here are a few more suggestions…
Google Docs
Create speadsheets, word documents, calendars, forms (and more) that can be shared between any number of people. Yes, everyone in the band needs a gmail account…but you all probably already have accounts if you’re YouTube users. Assuming that you don’t, just create one gmail account and simply have everyone access the information through that one account.
Master Tours
A friend of mine tours with Ingrid Michaelson and says that they use a Smart Phone app called Master Tours. It’s also software that you can be downloaded to your desktop. This link will take you to a more thorough description of what they do and some screen shots of the app. But my friend says they rely especially on email. Which brings me to the most important point..
Email
It’s simple, it’s easy, and if everyone is checking it, it does the job! You don’t need anything high tech. You just need to be good communicators. As I mentioned in PART 1: your band mates need to be on the same page as you. You can have all the apps and resources in the world…but if your drummer doesn’t care enough to know when load-in is, then that’s the real problem.
By the way, if you are in a band or thinking about starting a band, you should read this post: “STARTING A BAND? HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD DO“.
Good luck and happy playing!
